Growth first. The acceptances follow.

We measure success by who our students become, not where they get in. A student who is clearer about what they want, confident in their own voice, and ready for the place they choose has already won.

STUDENT STORIES

Where they started, and where they landed

PRIVATE SCHOOL · 9TH GRADE

From “maybe not” to her first-choice school

Where she started

She began looking at private high schools because her older sister had gone. When we first met, she wasn't sure she wanted to go at all.

What she built

We started with a long list and pared it down, school by school, until only the places that fit her were left. Along the way, the choice became hers instead of her sister's.

Where she landed

Admitted to her top school. She has just started there as a freshman.

PRIVATE SCHOOL: POSTGRADUATE YEAR

Knowing he needed one more year

Where he started

As a rising senior, he was doing everything a college applicant is supposed to do. His heart wasn't in it.

What he built

Early in senior year, he said it out loud: he wasn't ready for college yet. He wanted a step in between. Together we found a postgraduate year that fit him.

Where he landed

Happily settled at a boarding school, growing into the student he wants to be when college comes.

COLLEGE · FROM 9TH GRADE

The dream school called in August

Where she started

We began working together in 9th grade, when she was very worried about the college process. From the start, her dream school was Georgetown.

What she built

We helped her stay on track, and stay mindful of every difficult thing she was facing and overcoming. By senior year she was a tremendous candidate, with options including USC and Villanova.

Where she landed

She committed early to USC, then was admitted to UCLA and chose UCLA instead, while staying on the Georgetown waitlist. In early August, Georgetown took her off the waitlist. She is so happy there now.

COLLEGE

Taking the chance on Cornell

Where he started

The son of immigrants, he grew up in Tennessee and came to us by referral, looking only at schools in Tennessee and Virginia. Much of his time outside school went to caring for his younger brother and working at his family's restaurant.

What he built

We started working together in the summer. He was an exceptional student with a real story to tell. A relative in the Boston area had loved her time at Cornell, and when his scores came in, we encouraged him to apply there. He didn't think he had a chance, but he took it.

Where he landed

Cornell University, where he is now happily in his second year.

COLLEGE TO MEDICAL SCHOOL

A second cycle, four offers

Where she started

We worked together on college, and she landed at her first-choice school. Years later she came back after a disappointing first round of medical school applications.

What she built

She had what it took. What she needed was the right guidance. We went through the whole process again, together.

Where she landed

Four offers. She is happily attending UMass Chan Medical School.

COLLEGE TO GRADUATE SCHOOL

Five for five, and her pick of the top

Where she started

We first worked together on her college applications. She chose a school many would call a safety, and went fully funded.

What she built

She made the most of those four years. When she knew she wanted to teach, she came back to begin her graduate school search with us.

Where she landed

Admitted to all five programs she applied to. She turned down Harvard to attend Teachers College, Columbia University.

TRANSFER

When the dream school isn't the right fit

Where she started

She got into her dream school, the University of Michigan. A year and a half in, she was a fantastic student, but she was unhappy socially.

What she built

Rather than settle, she took on the transfer process, and looked hard at what she needed from a campus community.

Where she landed

The University of Pennsylvania, which she chose over Vanderbilt.

TRANSFER

Finding his community

Where he started

He began at Lake Forest College, and it wasn't the right place for him. He wasn't happy there and hadn't found his people.

What he built

He got clear on what he wanted: to be closer to home, part of a positive and close-knit community, and challenged by more rigorous academics.

Where he landed

Colby College, a school that checked every box.

IN THEIR WORDS

From parents and students

“Christine brought clarity, compassion, and strategy to the process.”
K.A. and T.A., parents
“Chapman Education offered great feedback, helped me cut down my college essay and brainstorm ideas for supplements!”
J.D., student
“Chapman Education has changed a whole generation. Kids have opportunities where they may have been hidden.”
S.P., parent
